I used to be doubled over every month and would easily work my
way through mega doses of pain killers. My mood swings would have
my loved ones, run the other way. My period was a major hassle and
I hated my time of month. I couldnt think of one good reason
of having my period. In fact, at times, I hated being a woman.
Then I met someone who had me consider that cramps
and feeling a mess every month, wasnt normal and it didnt
have to be that way. Huh?? Doesnt everyone go through this?
Perhaps, but that doesnt make it okay.
I began to make changes in my food and I noticed
a huge difference. My menstrual cramps were virtually gone.
As you can imagine, I was fascinated. I slowly
began to take a major interest in womens health concerns and
how it was related to our cycles. Who knew!!?? And that is the point.
I didnt know there were other options besides suffering every
month.
I then listened to a tape by Christine Northrup,
MD on PMS. And that changed my life. I had no idea that our cycles
could be considered a wonderful, energizing and insightful time.
I had no idea that once, women were revered and considered incredibly
wise during their period. Sadly, in todays society, its
been reverted to a sanitary problem and when women turn into raging
lunatics.
Well I dont buy it anymore. Once I figured
out what I needed during PMS (and this can be different for every
woman), I began to transform an experience that I once despised,
to one where I find energy and inspiration. I call it my wisdom
days. This may sound completely nuts, but it is possible.
Being healthy and energized starts with an understanding
of how food actually provides nutrition, how your body reacts to
imbalance and what to do about it. Another aspect to consider is
how we lead our lifestyles; our spirituality, careers, relationships
and even our physical activity. This is food too! It just doesnt
come on a plate. Simply put, eating less extreme foods will have
you leading a less extreme life. You can get off the roller coaster,
and for good!
