Hey there! Thanks for checking out my personal page!
|
|

|
Time to have some fun!
Here you’ll read about some of my quirky habits, favorite
past times and share some my family’s & friend’s
special moments. After all, if you’re thinking of hiring me,
you might want to know more about me and what I’m really like.
If you’re anything like me, that’s kind of important
to you. |

(I’ve been known to hire a web designer after reviewing his
work and finding out on his website he and his wife circled the
globe on their two-seater bicycle!) Well, here are some insider
clues to the makings of my ramblings, rants and loves. And by the
way, thanks for reading!
Warning: This page is not for the tightly wound (though I feel
for you, as I’m still slowly unwinding myself too) and it’s
especially for those with a love of life, being up to cool stuff
and quick to laugh. Read on at your own risk! J

My 30th b-day party… uh, a few, uh I mean, several years
ago… okay, Oct 11th is my b-day. I’m a libra born
in the Chinese astrology “rat” year. If you can guess
my age from that, you get to send me a gift too! J

Practicing my Charlie's Angels routine in Cape Cod
- June 2005

My mom, step-dad, brother and I Christmas 2003.
Christmas Eve at our house is always something to look forward to!

My brother Eric and breast cancer survivor Mom,
Thanksgiving 2003; Eric would kill me if he knew I had this picture
of him on the site. He’s becoming quite a chef and grill master.
What can I say! A big sister with a website is fair game.

| Where’s my dad,
you may ask? At the moment I don’t have a current picture
of us. He lives in Switzerland and I used to see him 2 – 3
times per year. He moved back to Europe when my parents divorced
nearly 12 years ago. It’s not an easy thing to have a Dad
who lives so far away. Truthfully, with the advent of making a go
with my business, I didn’t make the time nor could I afford
a jump over that great big pond dividing our nations. These days,
things are looking up, I must say, and I have plans to see him in
early 2005. Thank goodness for email and inexpensive calling plans.
I can absolutely say he’s been one of my best supporters,
being an entrepreneur himself. That’s probably where I get
it from!

Introducing The Goddess Gathering: A group of wonderful and amazing
women whom without, I wouldn’t have busted through a lot of
old patterns. Their help and unending friendship means the world
to me. We meet monthly and gather to discuss our lives - anything
from relationships, work (we are all in the health & counseling
field or self-employed in some way), abundance and everything under
the sun. We usually pick a topic to focus on for 6 – 8 months
at a time and see what happens. It never fails to create breakthroughs
and new discoveries for all of us. We are all ages and backgrounds
and yet, we get along fabulously! So here they are! As you’ll
probably gather, my friends are very important to me. |

Sister Goddess Deborah (representing all things English and to the
point) and Sister Goddess Dre (a treasure chest of skills, talents
and multi-modality artist – it simply isn’t fair to
the rest of womankind!) We co-lead many events together, and Deborah
and I are working on our first cookbook. Should be finished soon!
August 2004
Joy (or “Joyous” as I call her, who always lets me raid
her fridge in search of her latest culinary creation) and Laraine
(the voice of infinite experience and wisdom in our group)
Summer 2003
From left to right: Sister Goddess Deborah, Jen, Laraine, Lora and
Lisa (peeking out on the right) as we celebrate Lora’s baby
shower. All health and healing arts professionals. Lucky for me!

My good friend Tara, who also went to nutrition school with me and
is a world class tri-athlete; She’s my personal fitness inspiration.
I just look at her and I want to work out! Beautiful!
And certainly not last, Sister Goddess Santha (far right - also
lovingly referred to as Mother Earth Goddess for her depth of knowledge
of planting, gardening and food). Dre and husband Michael (to the
left of Santha – a couple who I spend lots of time with. They
are always inviting me to come over for dinner – how could
I say no to that! Yum!)
What does the Goddess Gathering have in common?
We all went to the same nutrition school. It’s an amazing
place. www.integrativenutrition.com

I love movies! Here are some of my favorites.
I prefer the inspiring kinds, a sucker for a good romantic comedy,
interesting sci-fi, a big fan of slap-stick American, sexy French
films (and pretty much all things French, as I speak it fluently)
period pieces and independent films that leave me wondering. (I
live walking distance from one of the coolest independent film centers)
- The Matrix
- This movie inspires me to keep
going when I particularly feel out in left field. It inspires me,
speaks to me and moves me. I have a view on health that jives with
this flick. Email me and I’ll fill you in.
- Sliding Doors
- cool soundtrack, and well done euro-film romantic comedy on
how our choices can affect our entire lives.
- Any Jim Carrey flick
- okay, so I didn’t like “Me, Myself & Irene”
but this man is so nutty, it makes me roll out of my chair. I
have to thank my brother Eric for introducing me to his movies,
when I wouldn’t dare rent it on my own. Thought it might
be stupid. Well, it is but it’s damn funny! You have to
be in the mood though. I saw “When Nature Calls” in
an English movie theatre and was the ONLY one laughing in a packed
house. Too much American slapstick for the Brits, me think.
- Henry V - Oh
my, this movie grips me and keeps my attention. I love history
and anytime someone can make a good story around what’s
happened in the past or true story, you’ve got my attention.
Kenneth Branaugh is definitely one of my favorite actors. If you
love period pieces, check this one out. An under-dog’s motivation
tale of a lifetime.
- The Little Princess
- So yes, this is a children’s movie. I say NAY to that.
A perfect film to watch with your favorite niece or young friend.
A story of a young girl’s survival in an English orphanage
and how she uses her imagination (or is it her real powers, as
all young girls do have secret powers, didn’t you know!
J) to overcome obstacles.
- Trainspotting
- Gross, disgusting, but you gotta love Ewan McGreggor in this
role that put him on the map.
- MGM Classics
- Oh yes! I’m from another era for sure! I love Gene Kelly,
Fred & Ginger and all of those beautifully choreographed dance
numbers and how everyone lives happily every after. It’s
the ballroom dancer in me who seriously fantasizes of twirling
around the floor for a living in my big ball gown. (I used to
dance competitively for a short time)
- Bliss - Watch
this movie with your significant other. By far one of my favorite
movies, acted by brave and talented artists. It changed my life.
- Le Grand Bleu
- the French version. It’s just so beautiful to watch –
filmed in the Greek isles. Got to go there someday!
- Ben Stiller fan
- just about anything he’s in I’ve enjoyed immensely.
Except for that one where all the couples are having affairs.
That was not too inspiring.
I love music! I strongly believe that
music has healing powers. And there’s not much that I don’t
like. I’m always playing it and my IPOD never leaves my side.
From world music, to Arab infused tunes, to classic R&B, today’s
trance dance, to hip hop, ambient grooves, the blues, jazz, singers
and standards, big band swing, Frankie, … oh I love it all.
In fact, I have a hard time not purchasing music. I’m not
too much into hard rock (my rocker days were spent in high school)
and country (makes me blue). So here are a few artists that I’m
into right now and some I’ve always loved.
- Frank Sinatra
- Been loving this man since I was little. The first music I remember
listening too in the privacy of my own room. My favorite is his
“Live at the Sands” recording with the Count Basie
Orchestra.
- Madonna - The
woman rocks and does her own thing. That is cool.
- Les Melodies Francaise
- I’ve been known to tune into a French stations with my
iTunes to catch the latest French cuts. But I’m more turned
on by Edith Piaf and her late night sort.
- Billie Holiday
- perfect for late night lounging and musings
- Tim Janis -
one of my favorite composers, done lots of stuff for films and
has many CDs out that transport me right to nature.
- Johnny Lee Hooker
- Ooooh that man just knows a thing or two about life!
- My Martini Men
- you know the bunch – Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, and the
crooner type.
- Kirk Franklin and God’s
Property - I love gospel, yes I do! This isn’t
your traditional gospel – this stuff rocks out the house
in good Lord lovin’ vibrations.
- Khaled - a
blend of Paris and Algerian urban world music. Makes me want to
dance.
- Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
- I saw these swinging cats play at The Derby in L.A. years ago.
What a scene and I danced all night long!
- The Buddha-Bar series
- I am annoyingly in love with groovy compilations
- Soundtrack Junkie
- I’m the first to run out and get the soundtrack to a movie
I loved or even if I just liked the music and didn’t care
for the flick.
- Ella Fitzgerald and
the Girls - what I adoringly call the Goddesses of the
love’em and leave’em songstress world.
- The Hot Chicks
- this is what I call a group of modern day hip hop divas that
make me sit up every time I hear them: Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott,
Alicia Keyes, Mary J Blige…
- Heavy D. & The Boyz
- reminiscent of high school care-free days and I still like to
pop in their tracks. Still appreciate Kid N Play, Slick Rick and
those guys. Fun, danceable, clever hip hop.
- Harry Connick, Jr - Oh Harry! How do I love
thee!! The big band, the tunes… I like it all! Come by me!
J
- New Radicals
- Damn! Why did they only make one album! So energizing!
- A Perfect Circle
- This dark, intense band grew on me via an introduction.
So you see I could go on and on… I like to mix things
up a bit. One of my favorite things is to be introduced to new music.
Got anything good I should listen to???
Stay tuned! More to come!
